Ministries

Jesus Christ our Lord defines the priorities for His people when He said “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20) He also added, “you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to THE END OF THE EARTH” (Acts 1:7-8).

THE HIGHEST PRIORITY TASK

The apostle Paul, chosen by Christ, provided more specificity to the task of the great commission when he wrote, “[Christ] we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ” (Colossians 1:28). This is the highest priority task, to make disciples of those whom Christ calls out of the world and into the church. Seeking the maturity of the saints is the first goal of a biblical church when gathered together. When the church scatters, each individual is then tasked with witnessing the gospel to those God places in their path and discipling their own families unto Christ. The church leadership is responsible to equip each person for their own individual responsibilities which God providentially places in their life. Therefore, we have several ministries within MBC that we provide to members toward this end.

ESTABLISHING MISSION

In addition to this, Paul told Timothy to “do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5). This means the elders of the church are also tasked with establishing mission ministries in the local area so that the general call of the gospel is continually going out to the local community, not only through the individual members of the church, but also through strategic efforts on the part of the church body. Two of our mission-outreach efforts include outdoor evangelism in downtown Vancouver and Children’s Hunger Fund.
